Château Gourran is located on the right bank of the Garonne in the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Premieres Côtes de Bordeaux). The castle is, in its current form, from 1773 and wine is grown on 8 hectares. The grape types are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. We produce 40,000 to 45,000 bottles of wine annually in four different styles, all of which are all are estate bottled: Château Gourran Rouge Grande Réserve, AOC Côtes de Bordeaux Château Gourran Rouge Tradition, AOC Côtes de Bordeaux Château Gourran Bordeaux Clairet, AOC Bordeaux Clairet Château Gourran Bordeaux Blanc, AOC Bordeaux Blanc The quality of the wines is based on all the important prerequisites: The typical right-hand side terroir, with lime, clay and stone which also characterizes areas such as St. Emillion and Pomerol. The high location on slopes which ensures less cold in the spring, higher temperature at night and good drainage conditions which ensures fast drying out after precipitation or fog. The age of the plants is high, close to 30 years on average. All manipulations are performed by experts in their respective fields. Our wine maker and oenologist Christine Chaminade has a long experience with winemaking from the local area. In the red wines, we use cork stoppers in high quality, which has proven to be a good investment. The reason why, despite the focus on quality, we can keep prices at a, for Bordeaux, reasonable level is because the value chain is in the same hands all the way.
