An abandoned vineyard for Lumiluna is a vineyard to be restored; that’s why we define ourselves “vine restorers”, because in the midst of the many abandoned rows of our area we have found vines, stories, genetic heritages and signs of the man. The winery is located in Mercatello, south of Perugia; since 2015 we have been on the hunt of abandoned vineyards to bring them back to new life, rediscovering and enhancing vines almost forgotten and at risk of disappearance; the roots of a 50-year-old vine give grapes a unique, particular, important story. For the “younger” vineyards we have instead chosen vines that represent the wine tradition of our territory: Grechetto, Trebbiano and Sangiovese; acidic, hard and strong vines that reflect the character of Umbrians, but if they are worked with patience and passion, they can turn into elegant wines, generous, with a unique style. The first harvest signed by Lumiluna was in 2018 and from the processing of these grapes Diciannove, Casale dei Ceci and Rio dello Spineto were born, our three wines in bottle; we are Giulio (Rinaldi) and Luca (Bigicchia); we restore vineyards and we make wine.
