Montenero is a dream come true: allowing us to make wine as we like, following our intuition. Our winery is a small family-run business. We are winemakers by choice not through inheritance. Our 7 hectares vineyards are located in Montenero d'Orcia, a hilly area at the foot of Mount Amiata, in the province of Grosseto. We aim to cultivate the land in harmony with the surrounding environment, respecting its own special rhythms. Here we have found the ideal conditions to give our project life. Our vineyards grow in the Montecucco denomination at 400 meters above sea level, between Montalcino and Mount Amiata, an inactive volcano that guarantees a calcareous, galestinous and rich skeleton terroir. We choose to grow vines respecting the environment and its biodiversity, inducing the creation of uniques wines. We are organic certificated. The Sangiovese grape fully represents the characteristics of our territory. It grows in different plots that differ in ages and sun exposures, conditions that allow us to experiment and give life to different interpretations of this grape variety.
