Schloss Vollrads

Schloss Vollrads is the name of a castle in the Rheingau region of Hesse, above Oestrich-Winkel and about two kilometers from the banks of the Rhine, which is one of the oldest wineries in the world. The history of the pure Riesling winery, with its still completely historically furnished castle, imposing residential tower, a vinotheque and its own estate restaurant, goes back more than 800 years: and yet Schloss Vollrads is now a thoroughly modern operation that has managed to combine tradition and modernity harmoniously and professionally like hardly any other German winery. Today, Schloss Vollrads impresses not only with its excellent wines, but also as a destination for excursions with first-class events and a restaurant that is popular beyond the borders of the Rheingau region.
A special feature of the 63-hectare winery, which incidentally is a founding member of the renowned Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter e. V. (Association of German Prädikat and Quality Wineries), is its 100 percent focus on Riesling. Because the Taunus quartzite as an ideal and unique growth basis for Riesling, the "cool climate" at the 50th parallel north and finally the passion and passion of the Rheingau people for their Riesling - these are all unbeatable reasons for "Riesling only".
