The roots of wine estate Reis & Luff can be found in two different regions, which are famous as the best German wine growing regions. The wedding of Wolfang Reis and Sigrun Luff connects the Mosel valley with Rheinhessen. Coincidence, the two wine enthusiastic sprouts of the Reis and Luff families got to know each other at the renowned viniculture school in Bad Kreuznach (Germany). Soon after their wedding, the couple moved to Aspisheim in Rheinhessen and founded their wine estate together, today known as “Reis & Luff”. The beautiful village Aspisheim, with its ne locations and mild climate is a perfect place to grown vines. The hilly area around the village enjoys a lot of sun through the year and is well protected against winds. Aspisheim valley lasts from “Rheinhessen hills” to the south-east boarders of the Binger Rhine country. With good weather conditions you can enjoy the wide view to the other regions Bad Kreuznach, Rheingau and Hunsrück. To cut a long story short: Aspisheim is a great place to live and even a greater place to grow vines. This advantage of climate and geography, Reis & Luff uses to farm over 20 hectares of vineyards with a wide grape variety. 60% of the grapes are white varietals. Mainly, typical for Rheinhessen, Riesling, followed by Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, Huxel-grape and Müller-Thurgau. 40% of the grapes are red varietals, including Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, Cabernet- Sauvignon, Merlot and Portugieser. Especially for the typical German grape varietals Riesling and Dornfelder the main focus is not only on high quality, but also on the individual character of the wine. Enlivening, fresh and multifaceted are trademark of Reis & Luff – a special drinking experience. Furthermore the terroir of the vineyards around Aspisheim gives the wines special, unique nuances. Typical for Rheinhessen wine are its possible applications. You can drink it as a simple every day wine, but also as a high valued companion to matching dines.
