Anibal de Otero viña vieja
Description
We make this wine using 100% mencia grapes from our small-plot vineyards with old vines, 90+ years old! The terroir is a mixture of clay and slate. Our top priority is to respect the unique quality of the grapes. We apply ecological viticulture following traditional methods with no mechanisation. 6 months of ageing in French oak and maturation in our cellars for at least a year complete the process. The result is this wine, of unique character and deeply connected to the Bierzo landscape.
Beautiful ruby in colour, you can expect intense aromas of spiced ripe fruits, red cherries, blackberries and raspberry jam, complemented by baking spices, toast and wood. You’ll also notice some tertiary development (leather, dried plums), which will increase in complexity with time. On the palate, the wine is fresh and richly flavoured, with medium body and smooth tannins, powerful and with a long finish.
