Description
The Riviera of Garda Classico Groppello DOC is a red wine which arises from the wine-making process of “Groppello di Mocasina”, an autochthonous vine of the Valtènesi area. It is grown in sunshine soil with a particular microclimate in order to gain a perfect ripening of the grapes; the compact bunches are particularly sensitive and an excess of humidity can be a reason of detriment.
Only healthy and mature clusters are selected for the traditional red fermentation where grape peels are separated from the must after 6/7 days of fermentation. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks for 10/12 months before being bottled. At this point it can face a further ageing of 3/4 years.
Groppello as a ruby red appearance with intense fruity aroma when young, tending towards a spicy overtones with ageing.
The flavour is intense with a slightly bitter and herbal aftertaste.
The suggested serving temperature is 18 C° and it is well matched with Grilled, roasted or stewed meats.
