Description
Denomination of Origin Bierzo
Red wine made from 100% Mencía grapes from vineyards over 80 years old located in Campo (Ponferrada) and produced in the neighbouring village of Molinaseca. First vintage 2013.
Not irrigated and harvested by hand, the grapes arrive at the winery in boxes of 18kg and are used to make a first selection of the best bunches, although later a selection is made on the table.
Once this selection has been made, the grapes are destemmed and placed in tanks. Afterwards, maceration and fermentation are carried out for approximately 15 days. Immediately after devatting, the wine is racked into barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing is carried out in 500 litre French oak barrels from the most prestigious cooperages for a minimum of 12 months.
