Cantina Ferracci is a young micro-reality in the italian viticulture sector, but enterprising and dynamic. We are two brothers, Michele and Massimo, passionate and fascinated by the world of wine for years, but with family roots and origins deeply rooted in the agricultural world. Viticulture and olive growing have always been part of our life, growing up in the midst of nature with our grandfather Pietro, a professional winemaker and farmer, who kept and managed vineyards for 8 hectares. We were passionate and intrigued with his fairy tales about the miracle of nature and how the sky, the earth and the plants worked together to create fragrant and juicy bunches of grapes every year. The harvest day was a family celebration, extended to friends and anyone who wanted to participate. For us, the “farmer's panzanella” snack was a must, stale bread softened with water and seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, salt, vinegar and lots of wild mint, whose herbaceous and balsamic aromas still recall those long days among the rows. However, our studies and professional choices have taken different paths from agricultural activity, but that passion for wine and for nature has strongly reappeared in our lives, resuming that path between the vines rows that had been interrupted and we started to produce wines from quality grapes of native vines. The first is a white wine, Passerina del Frusinate, QUIPE', a thanks to our parents and whose name is precisely the fusion of their names; the second is a red wine, Cesanese vine, AVE PETRUS, greeting and homage to our grandfather, unfortunately 27 years later. We work the soil in a natural way, providing nutritional components to the plants through the sowing of green manure, spreading composted bovine manure and seasonal subsoiling of the land to allow better oxygenation of the soil and prevent compaction. We use biodynamic preparations 500 and 501, the first to enrich the bacterial and fungal colonies, necessary for the root systems to assimilate all the substances present in the soil and the second for a better chlorophyll photosynthesis of the foliar apparatus. During the vegetative phase of the plants, the minimum quantities of phytosanitary products allowed in the organic regime are used, exclusively based on copper, sulfur and natural resins. Except for subsoiling and phytosanitary products, all vine care operations are carried out manually. Our vineyards are located in the most suitable areas for the Cesanese viticulture. Our oldest vineyard is in Olevano Romano, immersed in the woods on the slopes of Monte Scalambra, in the San Marco area. It has the shape of a kite, placed on a hill with excellent sun exposure and good ventilation in the evenings of summer heat. There are ninety-year-old sapling vines from a very old Cesanese clone whose yields are very low, but which give high quality grapes with high concentrations of sugars, aromas and minerals. The second vineyard is in Piglio, in the area called Colle del Grano, with a part of fifty-year-old vines of Cesanese d'Affile and a part of Passerina del Frusinate, cultivated with spurred cordon method.
