The Cooperative of Gandesa lies in the region of Terra Alta where wine has been produced from ancient times. In this region, one of the fastest growing in Catalonia in terms of popularity, the climate conditions are exceptional to produce great wines, especially the ones with White Grenache, which has been mastered in Gandesa and the surroundings, due to the fact than one third of the global production of this variety is originated here. The history of the Cooperative of Gandesa started in 1919, when different families gathered forces to work the land and bring together the fruit of their labour. They began constructing the modernist building with their own hands, designed by Cesar Martinell, one of Gaudí’s most acclaimed disciples, that has become one of the 7 wonders of Catalonia. Such was the resilience of the families during that time. Nowadays, history embraces modernity, and although we look at the past with pride for the achievements of our ancestors, we also keep up with the progress made in the wine world, and we implement all the technology and all the field work to bring you excellent wines, reminiscent of the days past, with the best quality technology can provide. La Cooperativa de Gandesa, en el corazón de la Terra Alta, es una bodega con más de 100 años de historia, una historia de superación y trabajo, que llevo a los agricultores de la época a juntarse para lograr valorar mejor su profesión y su esfuerzo. Con el sudor de su frente, los y las valientes hombres y mujeres edificaron la que hoy es considerada una de las 7 maravillas de Catalunya, el edificio modernista diseñado por Cèsar Martinell, discípulo de Gaudí, que demostró que con el trabajo colectivo y la determinación suficiente todos los objetivos son posibles. El espíritu de la Cooperativa se ha preservado intacto con los años, ya que hoy en día las más de 600 hectáreas trabajadas por los socios sirven para producir unos vinos de calidad excepcional con la Garnacha Blanca como punta de lanza, mirando al pasado para no olvidar nuestros orígenes, pero con la vista puesta en el futuro y en la innovación del mundo del vino.
