Dogliani Superiore DOCG San Bernardo
Description
Our Dogliani San Bernardo is named after the vineyard situated below the chapel dedicated to this Saint, also symbol of our winery.
This very old vineyard, plantend in 1943, is located at a higher altitude compared to the others of our company and is also the highest for the denomination Dogliani DOCG. The fresh exposure, on the east side of the hill, gives this wine a good acidity that we balance in nature making a late harvest and obtainig more ripe grapes.
Its long refining in 25Hl oak barrels makes it different from our other dolcetto and it is afterwards refined in bottle. It requires some years of aging to reach the perfect balance and it is produced only during the optimum years. The colour is a very dark ruby red. On the nose, a slight peppery sensation, combined with the presence of black ripe fruits. It has a great structure, it is rich in flavors, complex but also harmonic with a great persistency in the end.
This wine goes well with red meat and ripe cheese.
