Description

IXE:  This name has an amusing back story. 
As you know, Leonardo discovered ancient and un-grafted vines in his oldest vineyard…The variety was unknown. 
Local producers and universities, studied the vines, but no one could really understand what they were. 
So we started to call the vine “X”….and “IXE” is the Tuscan dialect we use to say the letter “X”. We discovered that the variety was #tempranillo through DNA analysis in 2004.  

IXE  is the result  of the vinification of the vineyards we have propagating 24  years ago, when the variety was still unknown.  
100 % Tempranillo is used for this wine. This wine is UNIQUE in wine Italian panorama.
