Description

MAURLEO:   We are very fond of this wine, as it is the second wine born after Leonardo started to deeply study his territory and to produce his signature wines. 
Leonardo wanted a base Sangiovese wine that could be enjoyable younger than the Reciso or Chianti Riserva….but what variety to pair it with? 
After many trials during the nineties: we used  Syrah, Merlot...but at the end we found the perfect native companion for our Sangiovese: Malvasia Nera. 
Leonardo fell in love with Malvasia Nera  after a long experience in cultivating this variety in other vineyards, which permitted him to select many very old clones of Malvasia Nera that have been replanted in our vineyards. 
The result of the challenge is 50% Sangiovese and 50% Malvasia Nera, a blend very unique  as the Malvasia is usually used  in very small percentage as a blending grape. We think that these two varieties work perfectly together.
