Description
A link between the Côtes de Nuits and Beaune, the Montagne de Corton marks a change in the landscape. Like Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton (pronounced Alosse) enjoys a perfect location. Established in 1938, this AOC forms the guard of honor of the prestigious Grands Crus: Corton and Corton-Charlemagne.
The color is quite dark, deep ruby. Young, its aromas suggest the garden in spring, small red fruits (raspberry, strawberry, cherry) and black (blackcurrant, blackberry). Its accents intensify with age: peony and jasmine, brandy jams and fruits, prunes, leather, mushroom, cinnamon. Robust without losing its distinction, racy and fruity, it opens fully after 3 to 5 years of aging, on a firm and structured body, rich in chewiness and pleasant tannins.
This wine pairs well with strong dishes like red meats, grilled or in sauce, and roasted or even lacquered poultry. It is perfect with soft cheeses with washed rinds: époisses, ami du chambertin, livarot...
