Description
Vintage: 2017 was determined by extreme weather events. It started with an early budding and subsequently frost. The summer was defined by thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. But in the late summer weeks the weather capriol calmed down and we had good conditions for further development with lots of sunshine.
Vines: 100 % Merlot
Region: Sand, Honigberg Ludwigshöhe
Vineyards: 7 year old vines
Wine expansion: The grapes were harvested by hand, destemmed and then fermented for 14 days in 500 l vats on the mash. After the mash fermentation, the Merlot aged for 2 years in new oak barrels
Description: the scent of dark chocolate, along with the taste of ripe blackberries. A strong, complex and longer-lasting finish
Drinking maturity: The Merlot is still a very young wine and needs time to mature. From summer 2021 it will open and has storage potential until 2035
