Wintersheim Spätburgunder
Description
Vintage: 2018 was a hot dry year with much more sunshine than in previous years. This influenced the red wines and brought lots of fruit, ripe tannins and a balanced acidity.
Vines: 100 % Spätburgunder, 25 year old vines
Region: Wintersheim, Loess soil, 280 m above sea level.
Vinification: Juice extract of 20% then mash fermentation in vats a 400 l for 14 days, storage and maturation for 12 months in Barriques. 1/4 new Barriques, 1/4 second-used Barriques and 2/4 older barrels. The wine was bottled infiltrated.
Description: sweet ripe fruit of red berries, delicate cedar wood and vanilla aromas, lots of power and powerful fruit on the tongue
Drink maturity: Ready to drink from May 2020 storage through to autumn 2029
Menu suggestion: Fried meat with light toasted aromas
