Description
Vintage: 2017 was determined by extreme weather events. It started with early budding and subsequent frost. The summer was defined by thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. But in the late summer weeks the weather caprioles calmed down and we had better conditions for the grapes to mature with lots of sunshine.
Vines: 100 % Spätburgunder 23 year old vines
Vinification: The vineyard was harvested 1st week of September for our Rosé in order to reach a concentrated Rosé. At the end of September we hand harvested the still crisp but super fruity grapes and de-stemmed them before the mash fermentation. After 10 days of fermentation, the Spätburgunder matured for 24 months in new oak barrels. After bottling, we let it mature further in the bottle for another year.
Description: Sour cherries, some blood orange and the scent of forest soil lure in the nose. The taste is very complex and characterized by roasted aromas and red berry fruits. An elegant, longer lasting finish
